Additional detail for the MARTS 2012 Workshop Ruling the World of Maintenance & Reliability
Instructor: Mike Gilley, Principal, Fox River Systems
What you’ll learn:
1) How to apply three condition-monitoring tools and techniques to address your equipment uptime, operating cost and safety and compliance goals. We'll provide a combination of lecture on the science and practical applications of infrared thermography, vibration analysis and acoustical ultrasound. We'll also provide introductory-level training on the science, and emphasize the practical applications of infrared thermography, vibration analysis and acoustical ultrasound for inspecting and assessing the condition of a wide range of equipment types.
2) Insight on how to select a maintenance strategy and instrumentation/tools for core equipment assets as well as the balance of your plant. This includes:
* How to determine asset criticality and dependencies associated with delivering your products or services
* A general approach for selecting a maintenance strategy that fits your operational goals: RCM, predictive maintenance (Pam), preventive maintenance (PM) or run to failure
* A method for determining which condition-monitoring technique(s) and the frequency to apply them to get early indication of pending failures
3) How to take charge of maintenance and reliability challenges from people, process, and technology perspectives. This includes:
* How to start a condition-based monitoring program
* How to determine personnel readiness for condition-based monitoring work
* An overview of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS): the good, the bad and the ugly about implementations
