Details for the ‘Energy and Sustainability Management’ MARTS 2012 Workshop from SKF
The MARTS 2012 Workshop Energy and Sustainability Management, scheduled for Monday, March 12, features six separate in-depth sessions taught in the same location by different members of the SKF Service Division team. (These individual presentations are not available separately.) Following are the details for each session within this SKF Workshop:
Assessment and Benchmarking
Instructor: Eric Huston, Global Business Manager, Asset and Energy
Management, SKF Service Division
This session will introduce a process to assess energy and environmental management, energy efficient tools, energy efficient operations and environmental controls. Participants will also learn how to effectively prepare a benchmarking report that suggests both strategic and tactical actions essential to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
Creating a Comprehensive Asset Management Plan Based On ISO 50001
Instructor: Mike Roberts, Program Manager, Energy and Sustainability Management, SKF Service Division
This session will introduce the ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System (EnMS) standard as the foundation for developing a Comprehensive Asset Management Plan. The objective is to promote understanding of the standard and to enable an organization to establish the systems and processes necessary to improve energy performance.
Energy Awareness
Instructor: Lars Arvidsson, Manager, Energy Competence Centre, SKF Service Division
Energy awareness within a plant, from senior management to the shop floor, is typically the most frequently identified opportunity to achieve and sustain energy savings. This session will introduce the key elements and best practices to start or enhance an energy-awareness program for an industrial manufacturing facility.
Monitoring and Targeting
Instructor: Bjorn Rinde, Engineer, Energy Competence Centre, SKF Service Division
Energy monitoring and targeting (M&T) is an energy-efficiency technique based on the common adage that “you cannot manage what you cannot measure.” This session will introduce M&T techniques that provide Energy Managers with feedback on operating practices, results of energy management projects, and guidance on expected level of energy.
Pump-System Fundamentals
Instructor: Roland McKinney, Consultant, Energy and Sustainability Management, SKF Service Division
Many assessments suggest that energy costs for pump systems can be reduced by 20% or more, simply by improving pump and system efficiency. This session will introduce the fundamental concepts that determine the operating efficiency of a pump system.
Compressed Air System Fundamentals
Instructor: Mike Dwyer, Sr. Specialist, Energy and Sustainability Management, SKF Service Division
Up to 30% of compressed air system capacity can be lost to leaks if there is no comprehensive leak detection and repair program in place. This session will provide a complete, standardized approach to energy monitoring, helping to develop awareness and understanding of industrial compressed air system energy use and resultant CO2 emissions.
